Frequently asked questions
Can free users create an entire story?
Yes. Free users can create a full story and view it as a PDF or as a narrated story that starts with the cover image and moves through each page illustration while narration plays.
Free members must upgrade to publish to the library, use full print and export options, or save their work on our servers. Drafts autosave locally in your browser, so closing the tab or browser does not by itself erase work on that same device. They are not cloud-backed until you upgrade—using another device or browser, or clearing site data, can make local drafts unavailable.
Why do I see other authors’ work when I click the My Library link?
If you have not already, go to Settings → Profile and set up your profile. After that, when you open My Library, your library section appears at the top and includes any works you have published. You must be a paid user to save your work to the cloud.
Can anyone join the affiliate program?
Yes. You do not need a paid account to join. You may join and receive credits or cash. Free members who choose credits can earn free access to a Level 1 paid account with all features after they refer six or more paying customers. If one of those six unsubscribes, the account reverts to free until another paid referral is added. The user’s work is not lost; it stays available while referrals are replenished.
Paid members who choose credits may not need to pay again as long as they keep six or more paying referrals.
Why can’t I click the Story Lab or Editor links and go to those pages?
The app follows a set order. You must lock in at least one character before you can open Story Lab. After your story is finished and accepted, a link appears that lets you send it to the Editor. After that, those links stay available if you need to go back to add characters or make edits.
Why doesn’t the voice command option in Story Lab work?
This feature is not supported in every browser. Try Google Chrome.
After I edit the text on a page and recreate the narration, it doesn't change.
You may have to refresh the page for the changes to take effect.
What does the Move To Draft button do?
Because you are only allowed 2 active projects, you may want to move an unfinished or draft project aside while you start a new one. Then when you have less than 2 projects open you'll be able to restore the draft and finish it.
What does the Archive button do?
After you complete and publish a story you can archive it and start new stories. You're not limited to how many stories you can have.
